About NSCDA

The Nova Scotia Career Development Association is an inclusive not for profit organization that provides strategic leadership to Nova Scotia professionals in career development. We promote effective practices through the communication of information, providing professional development and encourage the adoption of frameworks promoting enhanced client-centered services.


Our Mission

The Nova Scotia Career Development Association will develop and promote initiatives that advance career development in Nova Scotia. We will focus on providing leadership and support that assists career practitioners in accessing learning opportunities to achieve the competencies outlined in the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Practitioners.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Creating opportunities for continuous learning by initiating, supporting and providing professional development, locally and provincially
  • Encouraging practitioners to access opportunities to obtain competencies outlined in the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Practitioners
  • Hosting an annual conference for learning, networking and information sharing around career development
  • Increasing public awareness of the need for career development
  • Promoting awareness of life long learning through frameworks such as the Blueprint for Life/Work Designs and the Nova Scotia Skills and Learning Framework
  • Developing partnerships and links with career development stakeholders within the community, provincially and nationally
  • Exploring the creation of a voluntary certification process for career practitioners in Nova Scotia
