BIG NEWS! We have an amazing opportunity locally to further our knowledge and skill as Appreciative Inquiry (AI) Practitioners and, in fact, to become Certified AI Facilitators. NSCC and the College of Continuing Education are co-sponsoring an AI Facilitator Training (AIFT) program May 17-20, 2010, at the NSCC Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth.
The Assessment Component of Employment Counselling (ACEC) is a competency-based, 60-hour course that covers the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct an employability assessment interview. It will include the identification of an employment problem and its clarification, the setting of one or more employment counselling goals and the development of an action plan that will lead to the achievement of these goals.
$2,300.00 (plus HST) Books, course resources and materials are included in this cost.
A block of rooms have been reserved in the name of Dyall Consulting Inc for your convenience at a rate of $110.00 per night. For anyone wishing to stay at the hotel for the weekend of June 4th and 5th, there are no rooms available for those two nights, so you will need to make other arrangements.

The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission provides public education on human rights through information sessions. These sessions are provided at no cost and can run from half an hour to two hours depending on the needs of the requesting organization or community group. Content of the sessions includes a brief overview of:
- the work of the Commission,
- protected characteristics (grounds for lodging complaints) and
- the process of lodging a complaint with the Commission

Human Rights in the Workplace - Workshop Overview
The objective of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission's human rights education workshop is to promote human rights in an employment setting. The day-long workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to explore issues of diversity and discrimination, and to better understand them within the context of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act. The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission provides public education and training on human rights. These sessions are provided at the cost of $450.00 per person, inclusive. The number of participants for training sessions is restricted to a maximum of 25 and a minimum of 10 people. Contents of the THREE-DAY TRAINING* can be tailored to focus on specific areas depending on the needs of the requesting organization or community group. All training sessions begin with a brief overview of:
- the work of the Commission,
- protected characteristics (grounds for lodging complaints) and
- the process of lodging a complaint with the Commission

Biography
Sharon Karn has a diverse background in education and workshop facilitation.
Sharon was employed with the Toronto Board of Education for fifteen years
where she taught Business, Computers, ESL, Career and Cooperative Education.
At Acadia University, she educated International Students in English
Language Studies. Over the last ten years, she has assisted multi-aged
groups to discover their personality strengths. In addition, she has taught
internationally in Myanmar and The Gambia, Africa.

PERSONALITY DIMENSION - LEVEL 1 FACILITATOR TRAINING - March 28-30, 2010, Old Orchard Inn, Wolfville, Nova Scotia
Personality theory/temperament tools translate complex personality theory
into everyday language. Presented in fun, lively, interactive workshops
which makes the learning memorable and easy to apply. Utilizes colour-coded
cards to represent the four major personality strengths and preferences.
Create an understanding and recognition of our differences as gifts and
strengths and a positive atmosphere of discovery with a focus on existing
strengths and emerging human potential.
Qualified Level I Facilitators complete a minimum of 20 hours of in-depth
training over and above any introductory programs. This training is
delivered by a qualified Level II or III facilitator and involves acquiring
an understanding and appreciation for the history and theoretical background
of the tool, as well as practical facilitation techniques and strategies for
handling problems which may arise in an awareness or application session.
Qualified Facilitators may:
- purchase training and related materials from Career/LifeSkills Resources;
- promote themselves as Qualified Facilitators (level I) both inside and outside their organization;
- organize and conduct Introductory and Application sessions;
- charge for their services;
- provide statistical data on participants to assist in updating Canadian statistical profiles.
Participants must successfully complete an open book exam on the third day
in order to gain Qualified Facilitator status and should anticipate some
homework on the evenings on the first and second day of the program.
Prerequisite: Adult/group facilitation experience; attendance at a
Personality Dimensions®, or other personality temperament/type introductory
session.
